We are Local 1206 of the AMERICAN FEDERATION OF GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEES and the exclusive representative of eligible bargain unit employees in the Department of Veterans Affairs, Northern California Health Care System.


About the VA Northern California Health Care System

VA Northern California Health Care System (VANCHCS) is an integrated health care delivery system, offering a comprehensive array of medical, surgical, rehabilitative, mental health and extended care to veterans in Northern California. The health system is comprised of a medical center in Sacramento; a rehabilitation and extended care facility in Martinez, and seven outpatient clinics.

VANCHCS has two divisions, each with an Associate Director. The Sacramento Valley Division is comprised of medical facilities in Sacramento, Chico and Redding. The East Bay Division is comprised of medical facilities in Fairfield, Vallejo, Martinez and Oakland.

VANCHCS serves an area covering 17 counties, more than 40,000 square miles and over 251,000 Veterans.

Counties: Alameda (partial), Amador, Butte, Colusa, Contra Costa, El Dorado (partial), Glenn, Placer (partial), Sacramento, Shasta, Siskiyou, Solano, Sutter, Tehama, Trinity, Yolo and Yuba.

Congressional Districts: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 9, 10, 11, and 13.
